Fan installation dos and don’ts
A practical visual reference covering common arrangements that improve or restrict fan performance.
Ductwork and fittings
Choose compatible tube, bends, reducers, branches, collars and the accessories needed to complete the run.
Fire and smoke ductwork
Understand the system route, tested construction and why installation must follow the approved specification.
Grilles, diffusers and plenums
Match the air terminal, neck size, plenum entry arrangement and spigot diameter to the application.
AC and FCU plenums
Search by indoor-unit manufacturer and model, then configure the connection arrangement required.
Before installation
Five checks that prevent most avoidable problems
These points do not replace the manufacturer’s instructions or the project specification, but they provide a useful final check before work begins.
Safety first: electrical work, fire and smoke systems, structural supports and regulated installations must be completed by suitably qualified people.
Confirm sizes and compatibility
Check every connection size, male or female end, flange type, voltage, phase and controller compatibility before installation.
Plan supports and service access
Support ductwork and equipment independently where required, avoid loading fan casings and leave practical access for inspection and maintenance.
Protect airflow
Avoid abrupt restrictions, damaged flexible duct and poorly positioned bends. Straight, well-supported connections help equipment perform as intended.
Seal and finish the system
Use the specified gaskets, sealants, tapes and fixings. Clean mating surfaces and complete joints consistently along the full system.
Inspect before commissioning
Confirm the installation is clean and secure, protective materials have been removed, controls are correctly connected and access panels remain reachable.
